Sony Introduces Small-Sized Touch-Screen Panels
October 28, 2005
Sony recently announced that it will start shipments of panel modules which vibrate when the screen is touched, in order to enable mobile devices to be operated in the dark. The panels, placed beneath an LCD, will have five types of vibration for different kinds of functions, making it easy for the user to find what he is looking for. Samples of the panels, which will come in three- and four-inch models, will be shipped by the middle of November, with an initial price of 30,000 Yen per unit. The company expects mass production on the panels to start in April 2006, and by then prices will be considerably lower than those of the samples.
