In May 2005, Samsung had announced the substrate specifications for 8G (2160 x 2460mm) and 9G (2400 x 2800mm) lines, with investment set for 2008. However, Samsung has expressed that they are considering restructuring their LCD business unit, and that they will be cautious about future investments into 7G and higher lines. According to Korean equipment maker forecasts as reported in Korea's Digital Times, Samsung will start investing in an 8G line in December 2006 while LPL, which has yet to decide the specification of their 8G line, in January 2007.
