Indian PC Sales Show YoY Growth in April-June Quarter
September 09, 2005
According to MAIT (Manufacturers Association for Information Technology), Indian PC sales in the April-June quarter exceeded one million units, compared with 929,000 units in the same quarter last year, marking year-on-year growth of approximately 8.7%. Desktop PC sales accounted for 938,000 units of total sales, year-on-year growth of about 5%, while notebook PC sales stood at 80,000 units, representing 123% year-on-year growth. MAIT attributes the push in sales mainly to the increased adoption of IT products by sectors such as telecommunications, banking, and financial services. Sales were also stimulated by aggressive pricing by vendors, which especially attracted households and SMEs (Small and Medium Enterprises) to the PC market.
