Sharp to Double LCD TV Shipment Volume to Europe

Sharp has decided to increase LCD TV production with plans to double the shipment volume to Europe to one million units in fiscal year 2005. They will ship PAL-standard panels for budget 26", 32", and 37" LCD TVs to Europe for assembly. Meanwhile, Sharp plans to export some 40" and above large-screen HD LCD TVs to Europe for brand promotion. JEITA (Japan Electronics and Information Technology Industries Association) projects that sales for LCD TVs in Europe will grow 80% this year.
