HCL Introduces Low-Cost PC in India

On Monday August 1 the Indian Minister of Communications and Information Technology unveiled a low-cost PC developed by HCL. The PC, for which the company has set a price of 9,990 Rs, has a 1GHz processor, 128MB RAM, a 40GB hard disk, a 15-inch digital color monitor and a 52?/SPAN> optical drive. HCL stated that the PC, which is aimed at first-time buyers, will be able to support a variety of applications including word processing, web browsing, and A/V playback.
