June 10, 2022

Tesla recently announced that its Gigafactory Shanghai has 100% resumed production capacity to pre-shutdown levels, the Economic Daily reported on June 10. In April, Tesla's Gigafactory Shanghai was temporally shut down for 22 days due to a surge in COVID-19 cases. The company adopted a closed-loop shift since it brought back 8,000 workers to restart production on April 19. Therefore, Tesla's monthly output grew a whopping 212% to 33,544 electric vehicles in May compared to April. Sales of global EVs are expected to grow from 11 million units in 2020 to around 145-230 million units in 2030, and the CAGR (Compound Annual Growth Rate) over the period is estimated at 30%, according to MIC (Market Intelligence & Consulting Institute), one of leading IT research institutes in Taiwan and a division of the III (Institute for Information Industry).
