Taiwan’s OPEN-LiFE Launches New Invention for the Elderly with Dementia and COVID-19 Home Quarantine Persons

Taiwan’s startup OPEN-LiFE recently launched a new invention, called PingAmulet D+ card, for the elderly with Dementia and COVID-19 home quarantine persons that comes with Bluetooth positioning technology, according to MIC (Market Intelligence & Consulting Institute), a major government think tank and leading IT research institute in Taiwan. The statistics show over 280,000 of Taiwan’s elderly aged 65 and above have dementia, indicating one out of 13 elderly people suffering from such disease. Taiwan’s Xishi village of Pingtung county currently has 52% of the elderly aged 60 and above. Over 83% of the elderly with dementia have used the PingAmulet D+ card’s positioning service and more than 90% of them are satisfied with the invention. The invention can also look like a keyring and bracelet. While the product has been adopted by other Taiwan’s major cities and counties, it has also been shipped overseas to Singapore, Hong Kong, and other Southeast Asian countries. The startup is funded by “Smart City Taiwan” Project which boasts to have fostered more than 220 innovative services from about 300 local companies and has benefited over 8.54 million citizens.
