Taiwanese electric scooter Gogoro recently announced that the company will set up a JV with India-based Hero MotoCorp, one of the world’s largest two-wheeled vehicle makers, to jointly develop electric scooters in India. Under the tie-up, they will launch Hero-branded electric scooters powered by Gogoro’s battery-sharing platforms in multiple cities across India. In addition to India, Gogoro has also  launched scooter-sharing services in Europe and battery-sharing infrastructure and platforms in Japan. The deal will focus initially in India before expanding to Hero’s 40 other markets. In addition to electric scooters, the development of global electric vehicles is also ramping up. Sales of global electric vehicle, including battery and plug-in hybrid, reached 2.43 million in 2020 and is forecast to top 4.29 million in 2021, according to MIC (Market Intelligence & Consulting Institute, a major government think tank and leading IT research institute in Taiwan.
