ASUS Opens New R&D Center for Cloud and AI in Tainan, Taiwan
December 20, 2019

ASUS recently inaugurated its new R&D Center for cloud and AI in Tainan, Southern Taiwan, the Central News Agency reported on December 19. The new center will be dedicated to the development of smart parking, smart campus, smart street lighting, and smart healthcare solutions and will be the first ASUS’ R&D center focusing on smart city cooperation. Moreover, the rise of 5G is expected to drive more applications in the smart healthcare sector. Taiwan’s government-backed IT research institute MIC (Market Intelligence & Consulting Institute) predicts 5G market value in the healthcare sector to reach USD17.99 billion in 2026. Applications most likely to adopt 5G include telemedicine (including remote consultation and remote biometrics), private healthcare networks, 5G ambulances, and mobile rescue equipment for military operations. Other than this new center, ASUS has another two centers in Taipei and Singapore to concentrate on developing cloud and AI platforms and providing technology resources required when developing smart solutions, and taskforces will also be developed in these three cities around these themes.
