Taiwan Mobile, KGI Bank Join Hands for Mobile POS Service
September 05, 2019

Taiwan Mobile recently announced that it has collaborated with KGI Bank in promoting the Mobile POS (Point of Sale) service, the Economic Daily News reported on July 29. According to MIC (Market Intelligence & Consulting Institute), a government-backed research institute in Taiwan, over 50% of Taiwan’s consumers have experiences of making mobile payments in the past. This service can boost sales of businesses without physical stores like delivery service providers and street vendors and is now adopted by a Taiwan’s chain fitness center, FitnessFactory, in its 43 branches nationwide. Taiwan Mobile says that the mobile POS will transfer each transaction back via an IoT (Internet of Things) SIM (Subscriber Identification Module) card instead of a traditional dedicated phone line. Since receipts are stored in the cloud, the paperless operation will reduce cost and inconvenience of printing and alter the customer experience of paying while helping vendors promote their products in more flexible ways to expand their target audience.
