SPIL to Spend USD29.8 million Building New Plant in Fujian Jinjiang, China

Siliconware Precision Industries (SPIL) recently announced that its 100% subsidiary, Siliconware Electronics (Fujian), has signed a contract with China MCC20 Group to jointly build a new plant in Fujian Jinjiang, China, for RMB 186 million (USD29.8 million, USD1=RMB 6.2), according to China Times on April 17. Last November, SPIL spent RMB 103 million (USD16.5 million, USD1=RMB 6.2) acquiring the right to use the land of Fujian (Jinjiang) IC Industrial Park for the next 50 years. The Jinjiang plant will mainly focuses on DRAM (Dynamic Random Access Memory) packaging and testing businesses and cooperate with Fujian Jinhua Integrated Circuit, a subsidiary of UMC Group.
