Chunghwa Telecom, one of major telecom operators in Taiwan, recently announced that it will set up a 100%-owned information security subsidiary in the second half of 2017, reported United Daily News on June 12. Striving to foster the development of Taiwan's cybersecurity industry, the subsidiary will have an initial capital of between NTD 300 million and 500 million (USD 9.97-16.61 million), and further increase to NTD 1-2 billion (USD33.2-66.4 million). Other than local vendors, the company has been in discussion with several potential partners from Southeast Asia with regard to cybersecurity cooperation, according to the same source.
