MiTAC, Synnex to Acquire Dadatec’s Westcon-Comstor for Overseas Market Expansion

Taiwanese MiTAC and Synnex announced that they will jointly acquire North America and Latin America businesses of Westcon-Comstor, an affiliate of Dadatec, for USD800 million with an aim to strengthen and expand their overseas market presence, reported United Daily News on June 8. They are also planning on spending another US$30 million to buy 10% stakes in Westcon-Comstor's businesses in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and Asia Pacific. The transactions are projected to be completed in the third quarter of 2017. With Weston-Comstor specialty in IT security, networking space, and UCC (United Communications and Collaboration), the merger is expected to benefit MiTAC and Synnex in product line diversity and market share expansion in the overseas markets.
