FET, Ericsson Team Up for Taiwan's First 5G Lab

Taiwan-based telecommunications company FarEasTone (FET) and Swedish telecommunications equipment company Ericsson have joined hands to set up Taiwan's first 5G lab, which demonstrated stable data transmitting rate of 1Gbps on September 19, reported Economic Daily News. FET also acclaimed its "5G On The Road," which will lead to the development of IoT (Internet of Things) and big data analysis and applications. FET is expected to start 5G trial operations in 2018 before launching commercial operations in 2020. In the initial stage, FET's 5G applications will focus on video content platforms, transportations, and utility services such as water and electricity.
