SEMI (Semiconductor Equipment and Materials International) reported on September 13 that the worldwide semiconductor manufacturing equipment billings totaled US$10.5 billion in the second quarter of 2016, up 26% quarter on quarter and 11% year on year. At the same time, the worldwide semiconductor equipment bookings arrived at US$11.9 billion, growing 27% and 17%, respectively, compared to the first quarter in 2016 and the same quarter a year ago. By country, Taiwan was the biggest spender with US$2.73 billion in quarterly billings, up 17% year on year. China was in the second position, spending US$2.27 billion from April to June, up 118% year on year.
