December 02, 2015

BOE has broken ground for its 40-billion RMB (US$6.25 billion; US$1=6.4 RMB) investment of a 10.5G TFT-LCD (Thin Film Transistor Liquid Crystal Display) production line in Hefei, China, aiming to launch volume production in mid-2018 with a potential to bring in 23 billion RMB (US$3.6 billion) of revenues per year, reported China News Service on December 2. The facility is expected to churn out 90,000 units of glass substrates sized 3370x2940mm per month mainly for 65-inch and larger Ultra HD (High Definition) LCD TV screens. Meanwhile, in order to provide reliable supply of glass substrates, Corning also announced a plan to construct a 10.5G glass substrate factory near BOE's plant.
