Wistron, Optiemus to Set up JV in India

Taiwanese contract manufacturer Wistron has signed a deal with India's Optiemus Infracom to form a joint venture for US$200 million over the next five years to produce smartphones and tablets in India, reported India's Economic Times on November 25. Wistron will have 20% stake of the JV while Optiemus will own 80%. The initial phase of the investment is currently under construction in Noida and is slated for operation by March 2016, with an annual capacity of 18 million units mainly for assembling HTC smartphones.
