JDI to Increase Automobile Panel Production in Taiwan
January 22, 2015

JDI (Japan Display) announced that it will invest NT$800 million (US$25.4 million; US$1=NT$31.436) to expand production capacity of automobile panel modules at its subsidiary KOE (Kaohsiung Opto-Electronics Inc.) in Taiwan, reported Economic Daily News on January 22. For now, around 20% of JDI's vehicle panel modules are made by KOE while the rest mainly come from JDI's Suzhou factory in China. JDI expects to boost KOE's capacity from the current level of 180,000 pieces per month to 450,000 pieces by the end of 2016. JDI has led in the Japanese and European vehicle panel markets and recently secured orders from Ford and GM in the United States. The company set up an operation center in Detroit in mid-2014.
