China to Emphasize Smart Sensor and Chip Technology for IoT Development
June 18, 2014

China's MIIT (Ministry of Industry and Information Technology) has released key points for China's IoT (Internet of Things) development in 2014, aiming to promote R&D in sensor, chip, transmission, and information processing technologies, reported China's Jinghua Times on June 17. The Chinese government will foster key IoT branded companies and strengthen its role in coordinating regional IoT development, including establishing policies that encourage local government-funded IoT projects and accelerate IoT commercialization. With a national demonstration area of sensor networks under construction in Wuxi, the government plans to launch IoT pilot projects in the fields of smart manufacturing, smart agriculture, smart traffic, smart medical care, and smart environmental protection.
