China Mobile, China Telecom to Adopt PON Solutions Provided by Alcatel-Lucent

Alcatel-Lucent
announced on July 21, 2010 that the company has entered into broadband services agreements with China Mobile and China Telecom to deploy its PON (Passive Optical Network) solutions throughout China, according to a press release by Alcatel-Lucent. Under the agreement with China Mobile, Alcatel-Lucent is projected to deploy its fiber-based solutions in 14 provinces, as for China Telecom, the company is expected to deploy the solutions in more than 18 provinces. It is reported that the PON solutions to be deployed for the two companies will be used to upgrade their broadband services, such as HDTV (High Definition TV) and high-speed Internet.
