China's Huawei Technologies said on May 12 that
it will establish a new India R&D facility in Whitefield, Bengaluru, according
to a Business Standard report. An investment of around US$100 million is
planned for the new facility, which is expected to accommodate some 3,500
employees. Construction is slated for completion in two years.
Currently Huawei employs an overall R&D
staff of about 2,000 in India, and the company expects to add 300 to 400 new
R&D employees in the near future. In addition to the R&D facility in
Bengaluru, Huawei also plans to set up a new manufacturing facility in Chennai.
