Vizio Partners Bydsign Corporation for LCD TV Business in Japan

Vizio has acquired about 33% stake in Japan's bydsign Corporation, a local consumer
electronics brand, Taiwan's Commercial Times reported on October 6. Vizio
obtained the stake gratuitously and the company will assign a member to
bydsign's board of directors for participation in actual operations. It is
reported that Vizio expects to transfer its successful business model in the US
market to Japan, where Vizio will still concentrate on product design and
manufacturing while expanding sales and distribution channels via the alliance
with bydsign. Previously bydsign mostly outsourced production to Taiwanese
manufacturers, and the company's share in the Japanese LCD TV market is
estimated at 5% at present.
