Lenovo to Build New PC Plant in Poland
November 30, 2007
Chinese PC maker Lenovo Group announced on November 28 that it plans to set up a new PC production plant and distribution center in the Legnica Special Economic Zone of Poland for more than US$20 million. With the new facility in Poland, Lenovo aims to tap the demand in Europe, Africa, and the Middle East.

This new facility - Lenovo's fifth new plant this year - is slated to begin production in the third quarter of 2008, with a projected annual capacity of two million desktop PCs initially, according to Chinese-language Chinabyte. The total number of employees to be hired is expected to eventually reach 1,000.

Other than this new plant, Lenovo has constructed four plants in 2007, which are located in Shanghai of China, Baddi of India, Monterrey of Mexico, and North Carolina of the United States.
