LG to Boost PDP Production Capacity by 22%
July 13, 2007
LG recently announced to upgrade two of its three PDP (Plasma Display Panel) lines in Gumi, South Korea, leveraging the new 8-up glass-cutting technique and larger-sized glass substrates. This technique enables LG to cut eight 42-inch PDP panels from one sheet of glass substrate, up from the current six. By introducing this new technique, LG is expected to boost its monthly capacity by 22%, increasing from 360,000 to 440,000 units.

Furthermore, LG also announced to mass produce 50-inch full HD (High-Definition) PDP TVs, starting in late June 2007.
