China Mobile to Provide WiMAX Service for Beijing Olympics

According to China Business News, the BOCOG (Beijing Organizing Committee for the Game of the XXIX Olympiad) has authorized China Mobile to construct a WLAN/WiMAX access network, as a complement to the company's mobile communications network comprising GSM/GPRS/EGPRS/TD-SCDMA, for the Beijing Olympics. As reported earlier in Asia Express, ChinaComm was also approved by the Chinese MII (Ministry of Information Industry) to build a similar network for the same purpose. Double options will thus be available for WiMAX services during the Olympics.
