India's VSNL Launches Wi-Fi Roaming Service
May 04, 2007
Indian telecom VSNL (Videsh Sanchar Nigam), a unit of the Tata Group, has launched a Wi-Fi roaming service via forging a partnership with StarHub of Singapore. In addition, VSNL is seeking to strike similar agreements with 25 more WBA (Wireless Broadband Alliance) members across countries, thereby enabling international travelers to access Wi-Fi services with their original account and identity. VSNL's Wi-Fi roaming service currently only allows incoming roaming in India, but will enable outgoing roaming in the following phase. It is expected that Indian users will be able to utilize this Wi-Fi roaming service in Singapore by the end of May 2007.
