TD-SCDMA Update

The TDIA (TD-SCDMA Industry Alliance) recently announced preferential policies to attract more mobile phone makers to join the TD-SCDMA initiative. New members of TDIA are expected to enjoy preferential TD-SCDMA patent fees and assistance provided by TDIA in various other aspects.
The Xinhua News Agency recently reported that, according to Qinjian Lou, Vice Minister of China's Ministry of Information Industry, China will keep its promise on 3G TD-SCDMA services during the Beijing Olympic Games, with or without solving issues related to 3G license issuance. Also, Lou denied speculations that the government will necessarily delay the release of 3G licenses until after the Games opening.
