Less than two weeks after its last release, OpenAI introduced a new AI agent called “Deep Research” in early February. Designed for researchers, academics, and professionals handling large volumes of data, the AI agent enables users to scan documents, analyze information, extract key insights, and generate research recommendations, reducing tasks that typically take hours to just minutes.
Meanwhile, Amazon Web Services (AWS) is working on updates to Alexa, which has been in use since 2014 and currently has over 100 million active users across 500 million devices. With the rise of generative AI models such as ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini, Alexa’s position in the market has weakened.
Ray Han, Industry Consultant at the Taipei-based Market Intelligence & Consulting Institute (MIC), noted an increase in companies applying large language models (LLMs) with multimodal capabilities to develop physical AI agents. These systems are being integrated into AIoT ecosystems for applications in smart homes, healthcare, productivity tools, and robotics, supporting more interactive and autonomous AI functions.
