Abstract

This research report presents shipment volume and value forecast and recent quarter review of the Taiwanese tablet industry. The report includes shipment volume and value, ASP, and product mix analysis. The content of this report is based on primary data obtained through interviews with tablet brands and makers. The report finds that the Taiwanese tablet industry's shipment volume reached about 28.8 million units in the fourth quarter of 2014, 33.5% but down 24.9% sequentially. Low-cost notebook PCs, continuing to be the hit in 2015, are argued to be the detrimental factor for tablets. As such, notebook PC brands plan to roll out at least seven to eight models priced at US$299 or lower with screen sizes of 10", 11", 13" and 14". This is anticipated to push notebook PC ASP (Average Selling Price) further down, threatening large-screen and two-in-one tablets, in particular, as they are often priced higher.
