CPT announced that it has cooperated with FocalTech Systems on the development of 5-inch on-cell touch panels with FFS (Fringe Field Switching) technology for mobile phones, and began shipment to Chinese mobile phone vendor Coolpad, according to Taiwan's Commercial Times on December 19. CPT has a comprehensive product lineup in small and medium-sized TFT-LCD (Thin-Film Transistor Liquid Crystal Display) products while FocalTech has mass produced over 400 million touch control ICs and accumulated considerable experience. CPT estimates that shipment volume of on-cell touch panels will exceed one million units in the fourth quarter this year, with broader applications to all smartphone lineups in 2014.
