August 27, 2010
Indian
government has lifted the eight-month ban on telecom equipment imports from
China's Huawei, ZTE, and Finland's NSN (Nokia Siemens Networks), according to
an August 25 report by the Associated Press. It is reported that ZTE agrees to provide
source codes, allow regular inspections, and pay large sum of penalties in case
of security breaches. Indian telecom operator Tata Teleservices has entered
into a 3G network deployment agreement with NSN on August 23, 2010, and it is
not clear whether NSN and Huawei will follow and abide by the same regulations.
