Intel to Open New Lab in Taipei on June 1

Intel recently announced that it will open a new open laboratory in Taipei on June 1, 2019, with an aim to develop a new range of advanced notebook PCs through its new project called “Project Athens Labs”, the Economic Daily News reported on May 8. Aside from Taipei, there are two other labs located in Shanghai and Folsom of California, will be opened on the same date with teams of engineers from Intel in the areas of SoC (System on Chip) and platform power optimization to provide recommendations for the improvement of notebook PCs and their components in terms of performance, battery life, and connectivity compatible for AI and 5G technologies. Intel stated that the first device, to be developed from the Project Athena will hit the market in the second half of 2019. There are a total of 180 PC and component businesses involved in this project such as Intel, HP, Lenovo, ASUS, Acer, and Xiaomi.
