Wistron recently announced that it will spend around NTD 50 million (USD 1.63 million; USD 1=TWD 30.6) to acquire 1.26% stake in Unity Opto, a Taiwan-based LED packaging service provider, through its subsidiary ArFlex, the Economic News reported on August 2. Unity Opto has already been supplying LED (Light Emitting Diode) backlit displays to Wistron and this investment is to strategically deepen the cooperation of both parties, thereby bringing in more resources for future transformation, product competitiveness, and operating profits. Wistron's OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturing) business covers smartphones, notebook PCs, LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) TVs, and LCD monitors.
