Abstract

The broadband communication infrastructure is lagging in rural areas, and residents may not afford the costs associated with broadband communication services. This has resulted in digital divides among the population in terms of internet and technology usage. Consequently, governments worldwide are actively promoting the development of broadband communication infrastructure and technologies in rural areas. This report examines and compares the pros and cons of several broadband communication technologies, including fiber networks and 5G FWA (Fixed Wireless Access), and matches them with suitable applications in rural settings.
