Abstract

The COVID-19 outbreak led to global supply chain disruption in the first half of 2020. As manufacturing capacity and logistics have returned to normal and the whole world has spent more time working, studying, and entertaining from home, worldwide shipments of notebook PCs and other IT devices have picked up in 2021, resulting in a tight supply of key components. Global chip shortage has not only affected existing IT products but also disrupted other industries, especially the automotive industry. As the pandemic continues, this report analyzes the changes in demand for IT products amid the pandemic and provides global IT shipment forecasts for 2021, including notebook PC, desktop PC, smartphone, and 5G CPE (Customer Premise Equipment); looks into the causes of global chip shortage and examines its impact on the automotive industry.
