Abstract

The report finds that the Taiwanese IPC industry's shipment value grew 20.5% year-on-year in the first quarter of 2018 to about NTD 45.2 billion (USD 1.5 billion; USD1 = NTD30.2), owing mainly to acquisitions made in recent two years. Based on our findings, service-related IPCs enjoyed the highest year-on-year growth in the first quarter of 2018, followed by industrial automation related IPCs which enjoyed up to 50% growth owing to smart manufacturing policy launched worldwide such as US' America First policy and "Made in China 2025" strategic plan. It is anticipated that the industry's shipment value will grow 17.8% year-on-year in the second quarter of 2018 to approximately NTD 47.5 billion (USD1.57 billion), bolstered mainly by the increasing momentum from the industrial IoT applications and branded orders from Europe, the United States, and China.
