Abstract

According to MIC's optimistic-scenario forecasts, Taiwanese STB shipment value is expected to reach NT$215.1 billion (US$6.56 billion; US$1=NT$32.77) by 2013 According to MIC's optimistic-scenario forecasts, Taiwan's shares of global IP, cable, satellite, and terrestrial STB shipments are projected to reach 70%, 50%, 10%, and 25%, respectively, by 2013 Affected by the global financial crisis, consumer demand for pay TV or value-added services is expected to experience declines until year-end 2009; nevertheless, with various countries legislating for TV digitization, new or replacement demand for digital STBs is expected to see further growth
