Abstract

China is a global manufacturing hub of consumer electronics products and an important MCU market. With the support of IC industry policies and system manufacturers, the number of MCU design houses in China exceeded ten in 2007. These design houses used to focus on products such as electronic toys, remote controls, and electric fans. With technological advancements, China's MCU design houses, such as Semico, Sigma Microelectronics, Shanghai Haier IC, and Shanghai Belling-Systron Microelectronics, have developed MCU products for air conditioners, refrigerators, stereo systems, handheld game consoles, and industrial control systems. This report analyzes the product strategies of major Chinese MCU design houses.
