Abstract

The enormous domestic market has made India one of the world's fastest growing economies. Today, with a rising middle class, Indian people have more disposable income to spend on audiovisual entertainment. Meanwhile, the government's digital TV transition policy is also expected to trigger continuous growth in pay-TV subscribers by 2020. However, limited by their scale and technology competence, Indian STB makers can hardly meet the needs of pay-TV operators in terms of product quality and production volume. For this reason, the insatiable demand of STBs in the Indian market is mainly dominated by the Chinese and Korean vendors. This report examines the development of the STB market in India, including pay-TV subscriber base and STB market scale, and looks into the current deployment of established players.
