Abstract

Several Chinese OTT (Over-the-top) vendors launched TV products between May and September 2013. While the emergence of the OTT TV industry has caused an impact on the TV market in terms of business model and price, its influence on the whole TV market has remained restrained due to small OTT TV sales volume. So far, the development of the OTT TV industry has been lower than expected. Despite the launch of second-generation models, the development of the OTT TV industry has significantly slowed down. Affected by the SATRFT's (State Administration of Radio, Film, and Television) bossy policies, the industry has fallen into stagnation. Vendors may remain caught in the predicament until the Chinese government announces more explicit policies.
