Next Bonanza? Chipmakers' Future in the Automotive Market

Abstract

CES (Consumer Electronic Show) held every year has become a flagship event for the IT industry. At CES 2016, MIC (Market Intelligence & Consulting Institute) finds that ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) and autonomous driving were two major areas of focus. Qualcomm has showed its ambition to move into automotive realm with Snapdragon 820A/Snapdragon 820Am automotive processors. Meanwhile, V2V (Vehicle to Vehicle), V2I (Vehicle to Infrastructure) and V2X (Vehicle to Vehicle/Infrastructure/Pedestrian) are implemented to enhance control features in cars. This report provides an overview of what major chipmakers Qualcomm and Nvidia presented at the exhibition and examines what they have in mind for the future automotive market.
