Focusing on core technology development and relying mainly on the sales of their own-brand products have been a thing of the past for Japanese component makers as Japanese brands' losing shine in the international market has its toll on their component businesses, for instance Sharp's panel division. In order to survive, Sharp has been eagerly seeking funds and several overseas investors have shown interests in investing into Sharp, including its long-time rival Samsung.
