Abstract

In the second half of 2012, the competitions in the global tablet market intensifies as Apple, Amazon, and Google launches new mid-range tablets while Microsoft, at the same time, unveils its own-brand tablet device Surface that runs on Windows 8. However, Microsoft's move is expected to exert limited impact on the tablet market in 2012 as the Windows 8 products were not available until the fourth quarter of 2012. On the other hand, branded vendors' mid-range models and the rapid development of white-box tablets in emerging markets are expected to shape the future of the tablet touchscreen panel industry.
