In the future, the Taiwanese thin client industry will remain highly competitive. As the global industry reaches maturity, Taiwanese manufacturers will be able to exploit their flexibility, cost advantages, and maturing design and R&D capability. Taiwanese manufacturers will also be able to develop the Chinese market, benefiting from a common language and geographical proximity. Nevertheless, there are considerable regional differences throughout China, and strategies that have been successful in certain areas may not be applicable in other regions. In addition, development of the Chinese market will require extensive resources.
Finally, the core element in the thin client industry is the server-based architecture, rather than the individual products. Working to increase the effectiveness and efficiency of the client-server model instead of focusing solely on product development will free companies from being confined to a finite number of products, which would restrict profit growth.
