Abstract

In 2006, the leading international notebook PC vendors continued to improve the performance of their products. Intel's dual-core Napa platform and AMD's introduction of a 64-bit CPU were introduced in 2006. Global demand remained weak in the first half of 2006, and it was not until the second half of the year that demand for the new notebook PC models started to take off. Although sales of high-end notebook PCs were slowed down, demand for mid-range and value-line products remained strong. The overall shipment volume for the Greater Chinese notebook PC industry in 2006 was 63 million units, up nearly 30% year-on-year. The Greater Chinese notebook PC industry's share of total global notebook PC shipment volume rose to over 85% in 2006. This report examines the major trends in the industry in 2007.
