Abstract

Despite successive rollouts of new products by key component makers, growth momentum of the overall server industry slackened on lack of stimulation from applications and services in the end-market. Despite the gradual solution of the component shortage plaguing the industry in the second and third quarters, Taiwanese ODM (Original Design Manufacturing) server makers suffered inventory buildup of server system products in their logistics centers in the fourth quarter. Shipment revenue of server systems was therefore affected. The Taiwanese server motherboard industry suffered conspicuous decline in shipment-volume growth, due to the exclusion of Iwill from Taiwanese server shipment figures following its acquisition by EMS (Electronic Manufacturing Service) provider Flextronics on August 1, 2006.
