Abstract
Emerging PC applications are under four development trends: communication and transmission integration, platform-based software development, diverse display technologies and flexible computing capabilities. Personal computing receives both advantages from server computing and embedded computing. Display technologies are diversified and focus on four aspects: high definition, compact design, low power consumption, and diversification. There are three types of platforms: Linux and JAVA platform, Windows platform, and other platforms. New demands are emerged through various integrations, including medical and home healthcare system integration, public information and retail consumption integration, driving and home control integration; technology leaders and solution providers are emerging application explorers.
