Abstract

In the fourth quarter of 2004, demand in the consumer market rebounded under the influence of holiday sales and deferred back-to-school sales, while shipments to the corporate market registered steady growth. Fourth quarter shipments from Greater Chinese motherboard makers totaled approximately 38 million units, a 12.6% sequential increase. However, shipment value and ASP both declined on year. In the first quarter of 2005, new rollouts and routine price-cuts are expected to stimulate demand, yet overall shipments in 2005 are not likely to register large-scale increases.
