Abstract

The report finds that shipment volume of the Taiwanese desktop PC industry witnessed both sequential and year-on-year growth in the third quarter of 2018 and reached 12.8 million units, better than the global average. The growth is mainly attributed to commercial replacement demand triggered by Microsoft's decision to terminate Windows 7 Service Pack 1 by 2020 which is expected to continue into 2019. In addition, sales of Taiwan's major clients such as Dell and HP remain strong. Shipment volume of the industry is estimated to decline sequentially but grow year-on-year in the fourth quarter of 2018, reaching 11.3 million units.
