Abstract

The report finds that shipment volume of the Taiwanese desktop PC industry remained subdued in the first half of 2016, down 11.9% sequentially. The decline is mainly attributed to continued weak market demand worldwide. Most companies tended to focus on inventory clearance while major brands' competitive strategies were shifted from making profit to maintaining market share. In spite of high- price gaming desktop PC product lines, the industry is expected to have fallen below USD 3 billion to around USD 2.9 billion, down 6.7% sequentially in the second quarter of 2016. Accordingly, desktop PC ASP (Average Selling Price) has dipped further to USD262.
